Colonel James Patton Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution
​(NSDAR or DAR) is located in Waynesboro, Virginia, and was organized in 1970. We are dedicated to perpetuating the memory and spirit of American independence, promoting education, and fostering patriotism.
​Our Chapter meets the second Thursday of the month.

Constitution Week is always held from September 17th to September 23rd of each year.  It was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1955 and petitioned to Congress to set these dates and signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956.  September 17 marks the official signing of the document in 1787.  
 
The Colonel James Patton VADAR will have exhibits about Constitution Day at the Waynesboro Library during the month of September and also at the Waynesboro Heritage Museum.  This heritage group is also asking members to "ring" a bell on September 17th to commemorate the official signing.  
 
Interesting note:   Schools and universities receiving federal funds are required to hold educational programs about the U.S. Constitution during this week.
